Sherri Edelman is a long time resident of Milford, PA.She has lived here with her husband Bill for 25 years.Bill and Sherri have two children who attend the Delaware Valley School District.Their oldest, Josh will be entering his junior year in the fall of 2011 and Mikaela will be a freshman.
Sherri is a Registered Nurse. She has specialized in Neonatal Intensive Care nursing and is currently employed by Pocono Medical Center in their new level two, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Sherri, along with the support of her husband has encouraged exposure of the ARTS, in all forms.Their daughter Mikaela, showed an interest in dance as a young child and they have supported her endeavors throughout the years. Four years ago, Sherri met Jeffrey Stocker through the Children’s Workshops which was offered through the American Readers Theatre. “Studying with Jeffrey has been instrumental in Mikaela’s overall development. She has learned to articulate, project and has achieved a confidence that is evident on and off the stage”. Mikaela, as a recent participant of the WRITERS PROJECT, researched and read the biography of John Steinbeck. Through Jeffrey Stocker, Sherri met John Magnus. In search of excellent dance training we have had to travel outside of the county.John reaffirmed for us the passion of this beautiful art; the need to seek out excellent training and the inspiration to continue with this journey. In the recent past, Mikaela has been fortunate to take classes with John Magnus and in the upcoming months will travel to train with John Magnus at his summer program Magnus Midwest. Dance is a wonderful expressive art form. What is lacking in the Delaware Valley region is quality instruction.John Magnus offers not only excellent training but a spiritual journey; an inner appreciation of self confidence, beauty and discipline. All qualities that parents want and seek for their children. ART offers the children of our community an opportunity to expand their interests beyond the classroom. ART in conjunction with our school district has brought literature and dance into the classroom.ART empowers children to grow into productive well rounded adults. The recent WRITERS PROJECT is one such example. For the children and young adults that we serve, Milford needs Jeffrey and John active in Pike County. We have a community exploding with talent. The young men and women in our community desire and deserve the opportunity that Jeffrey and John can bring.ART will provide the impetus to open up these doors. Today’s success is also attainable through social networking.Facebook and You Tube are not just generational any more; these are the communication tools of the future. Parents of teenagers already know, staying connected is 24/7. Performances of The Poe,Annabelle Lee and The Pearl should be applauded on the worldwide web. Video and audio should now be the norm, not the exception. Sherri Edelman will provide the opportunity for this to happen. Let’s keep the momentum going by enveloping the youth in our schools, our communities. Continued growth for ART by promoting literacy through music, dance, and drama.
